When King Abdullah II of Jordan is not on his quest for peace, discussing bilateral relations or addressing domestic issues; he devotes time into one of his favourite diversions: automobile racing. Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein, Jordan’s Motorsport Chairman and the king’s brother, gave the monarch a tour of the 2008 Jordan Rally on April 27th, the last day of the event. Beginning on April 24th with a ceremonial start, the three-day race is Round Five in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) series. In his welcoming message on the Jordan Rally official website, Prince Faisal declared, “2008 will represent an historic year for Motorsport when Jordan becomes the first Arab country to take its place among the elite as a round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). It is an occasion that has been 54 years in the making since my father, the Late King Hussein, first introduced Motorsport to these shores and we are looking forward to hosting one of the most unique rallies that the world has ever seen.”
