Princess Muna Champions Healthcare Education

Princess Muna of Jordan, mother of King Abdullah II, was in Geneva last week for the 61st assembly of the World Health Organization. In a speech to health ministers, the princess addressed the need for increased healthcare education and said: "The responsibility heavily rests upon governments which must dramatically and conscientiously increase their efforts to provide better health and education services, and to empower women in efforts to save lives of children and prevent maternal deaths during, or as a result of, childbirth." Since 2003, Princess Muna has been the WHO Patron for Nursing and Midwifery in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
