King Harald Sends Condolences to Pakistan

Below is the statement released by King Harald of Norway sending his condolences to the president of Pakistan concerning the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Your Excellency,

I have with deep sadness received the terrible news about the murder of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto on 27 December.
Please receive on behalf of myself and the Norwegian people my condolences and my deepest sympathy to you, Mr. President, to the people of Pakistan, and to the bereaved family.

Abdullah II of Jordan Condemns Assassination of Pakistan's Former Prime Minister

After lambasting the bomb attack in Karachi against Benazir Bhutto two months ago, King Abdullah II of Jordan “strongly condemned the criminal attack” in a press release when he received the news that she had been assassinated after speaking at a campaign rally in Rawalpindi, Pakistan on Thursday. In his statement, the king “expressed his deepest condolences and sympathies to Bhutto's family, the families of Pakistani individuals who were killed in the attack and the Pakistani president and people.”

Karachi Attack Lambasted by Jordanian King

Yesterday, King Abdullah II of Jordan lambasted the assassination attempt on a former prime minister of Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto’s convoy was attacked in Karachi on October 18th as she returned to her homeland after eight years of self-exile. Bhutto escaped the onslaught unscathed. The king cabled the president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, with his condolences and called the assailment “a totally reprehensible terrorist attack.”
