In a press statement released from Buckingham Palace today, the wife of Peter Phillips gave birth to a girl yesterday at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Princess Anne’s first grandchild weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces. The unnamed baby is twelfth in line to the British Throne.

Princess Anne to Become a Grandmother
The Princess Royal’s son, Peter Phillips, will become a father in December. Buckingham Palace confirmed the news by passing on the following statement: “Peter and Autumn Phillips are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in December. 'The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh as well as Autumn's family have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
Peter’s child will be the first great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth II.

Peter Phillips Observes Equestrian Events in China
Whilst his uncle, Prince Edward, has been attending the Paralympic Games in Beijing as patron of the British Paralympic Association, Peter Phillips has been a spectator to some of the Paralympic equestrian events this week. He and his wife, Autumn, have accompanied the Princess Royal to some of the sporting events in Beijing the last several weeks. His sister, Zara, was unable to participate in the Beijing Olympics when her horse, Toytown, sustained an injury rendering him incapacitated to compete in top form.
