Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, visited Northern Ireland this week. One of her engagements included a tour of East Belfast Mission Hall. The mission was established in 1985 “to engage in community development and service in the Newtownards Road, Ballymacarrett district of Belfast.” Upon her arrival, the monarch was received by several dignitaries including the First Minister of Northern Ireland Assembly, Dr. Ian Paisley. As part of the tour, Queen Elizabeth was briefed on the Skainos Project, a programme that will focus on “community transformation and renewal in East Belfast.”
