Well, it seems the crisis has been adverted and Peter Phillips will retain his place in line to the British throne when he marries Autumn Kelly this month. When he announced his engagement last summer, it came to light that his fiancée had been baptised a Catholic. Therefore, it appeared that Peter would have to renounce his place of succession according to 1701 Act of Settlement which prohibits Queen Elizabeth II and her heirs from marrying Catholics. Last night, however, the Daily Mail received confirmation from a Buckingham Palace spokesperson that Miss Kelly had received ecclesiastical teachings from the Dean of Windsor and she was now a confirmed member of the Church of England. "Autumn Kelly was welcomed into the Church of England some time ago. Her decision to give up her Catholic faith means that Mr Phillips, who is 11th in line to the throne even though his mother decided he should not have an HRH title, will not have to renounce his claim," she said.
