Countess of Wessex Presents the Queen Elizabeth II Award

The Countess of Wessex presented the Queen Elizabeth II Award to Priya Ahluwalia. Sophie is a patron of the London College of Fashion. The countess wore Victoria Beckham for the presentation. She described her fashion sense as a "work in progress." Sophie said she that she liked a classic look, but did not mind branching out into bolder territory occasionally. She also cited her admiration for Queen Rania's fashion sense.

Countess of Wessex Tours HMS Daring

The Countess of Wessex toured the HMS Daring on July 23rd in Portsmouth for its Commissioning Day. She is the sponsor of the warship. The countess first launched the elite T45 Destroyer at the BAE Systems’ shipyard in Scotstoun on February 1, 2006.

The Countess of Wessex Salutes Battalion in Germany

The Countess of Wessex visited her battalion last week in Paderborn, Germany. She is Royal Colonel to the 5th Battalion The Rifles currently stationed at Alanbrooke Barracks. It is the first royal engagement for the countess since giving birth to her second child last December.

Countess of Wessex Hastens to Hospital with Son James

The Sun is reporting that the Countess of Wessex brought in her 5-week-old son, James, to the Great Ormond Street hospital yesterday afternoon for an emergency consultation and to undergo some tests. The Buckingham Palace press office refused to comment on the situation, regarding it as “a private matter.” Anxious for her son, Sophie remained at the hospital all night. This morning, James will be subjected to “further tests.”

Countess of Wessex Gives Birth to a Boy

At the beginning of the month, I relayed the news story that the Countess of Wessex was planning a Christmas day birth. Then, yesterday, some news reports said that Sophie was scheduled for a caesarean section on Friday. After all that speculation, the countess gave birth at 4:20pm today to a 6lb 2oz boy at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey. When Prince Edward answered questions from reporters, he expressed his relief that his son’s birth was not as traumatic as Louise’s birth.

Countess Of Wessex Plans for Christmas Day Birth

According to Angella Johnson of the Daily Mail, Sophie, Countess of Wessex is planning to give birth to her second child on Christmas Day. She and her husband, Prince Edward, are the parents of one daughter, Louise, born on November 8, 2003. Currently, Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh have seven grandchildren: Peter Phillips, Zara Phillips, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Lady Louise.
