Catherine Middleton Receives Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring

Queen Elizabeth II is probably pleased with Prince William’s sign of frugalness. The ring belonged to his late mother Diana. According to William’s perspective, he wanted Catherine to have something that was very special to him. The sapphire and diamond ring first made its appearance at the engagement photocall of Lady Diana Spencer and the Prince of Wales on Tuesday, February 24, 1981 at 3:00 pm on the grounds of Buckingham Palace. The deep blue oval sapphire is surrounded by fourteen diamonds and mounted on platinum. The ring was designed by the crown jewelers Garrard which was priced in their catalog at £28,500.

With the reappearance of Diana’s engagement ring, it could hopefully signal that other pieces such as the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, Queen Mary’s Art Deco emerald bracelet and the Sultan of Oman’s sapphires might be worn by the future princess Catherine Middleton.

Felipe and Letizia Relax in Palma de Mallorca

Despite a recent car bombing in Mallorca, the Spanish Royal Family has refused to change their summer holiday plans.

Prince Felipe sailed in the Copa del Rey Audi Mapfre this week aboard the CAM. Before the start of the regatta, he and his wife Letizia led a minute of silence in memory of the two officers slain in the attack. The royal couple attended the funeral last Friday.

Whilst taking a break from sailing, the Prince of Asturias and his family obliged photographers as they strolled through the historic center of Palma today. The little princesses Leonor and Sofía were dressed in bright pink dresses with white sandals whilst their mother was dressed in a multi-colored shift. Known for her minimalist dress style, the Princess of Asturias was recognized in the 2009 Vanity Fair International Best Dress List alongside Sheikha Mozah of Qatar.

The Copa del Rey Audi Mapfre regatta ends on Saturday.

Willem-Alexander and Máxima Spend Christmas in Argentina

The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima of the Netherlands along with their three daughters, Catharina-Amalia (4), Alexia (2) and Ariane (8 mos.), are spending the Christmas holiday in Argentina. Today, Willem-Alexander and Máxima permitted a photocall on the grounds of the Dutch Embassy in Buenos Aires.
The little princesses were amiable despite the numerous cameras trained upon them. Amalia and Alexia played ball and watered some flowers in a large urn. As Amalia moistened the flowers, Alexia decided it was much more fun watering the ground by her feet. Before the holiday, Princess Amalia begin her classes in group one at the Openbare Bloemcampschool in Wassenaar on December 10th.
